Out To Pasture
April 20, 2008 — HeyJulesWhile out traveling this weekend I ran across an old group of homes converted into shops selling everything from pottery to salsa to candles. It was a quaint little area with all the things that make the country “the country” including weathervanes on the rooftops and an old retired tractor up on blocks.
The red body paint had faded to a soft fuschia pink and was further tainted with large patches of rust. It brought a huge smile to my face, though, thinking of my grandfather and uncles out in the pasture, bringing in the crops on a day like today. One generation later and our family is totally out of the farming business. This will be as close to a tractor as I will probably ever get in my lifetime and it made me a little sad just thinking about it.
