Easy Being Green

I’ve had a shamrock plant for close to eight years now.  I find it to be a pretty happy plant - keep it from getting thirsty and it will grace your kitchen window with its sun-seeking leaves and frilly white flowers.

To me, it represents part of my heritage, but it also reminds me of a place faraway that I one day hope to visit.  In my mind, the rolling hills of Ireland are as green as the leaves on my shamrock plant.  I cannot wait to see those hills in person one day!

For now, though, the green of the shamrock will have to tide me over…

Easy Being Green

Oh, in case you’re interested, I’ve just opened a new blog here at WordPress where I can write to my heart’s content.  Anyone who’s interested, you can also find me at “Late to Life” in the very near future.

INRI

While traipsing around the cemetery yesterday I walked right up on a huge bronze cross.  I’m working on collecting some images for my church’s “Walk to the Cross” that we put on over Good Friday and this cross is no doubt going to end up being one of the images I submit.  I photoshopped in a corner glare that also darkened the edges of the two sides.  In my mind’s eye, it represents the moment Christ died on the cross.  Now, I’m just looking for ways to make it better.  Any ideas?

Twinkle Twinkle

Last night we had our first dose of snow so I took the camera out and walked around the neighborhood taking photos of the different Christmas lights.  Once home, I broke out Photoshop and started playing with all the distorting filters.  Oh MY!  What FUN!  This was my favorite image out of all the different ones I came up with last night:

Bringing in Christmas

Is there anything that says Christmas inside our homes like a beautiful poinsettia plant?  If so, I can’t think of what it could be.  They bring such color into a bleak part of the year and make any house instantly seem ready for the holidays.
