Butterflies Are Free

Anyone else old enough to remember that Goldie Hawn movie?  (Yeah, didn’t think so…)

Lots of PS work on this one so don’t even ask!  I lightened and brightened and applied various blending modes, using quick masks and other tomfoolery.  Yes, it’s ‘manufactured’ to some degree, but man, ain’t it pretty?  butterfly_08-0808_8817c_8x8w

Frosting On The Butterfly

So I had this butterfly image.

Original

Original

I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it.  Kinda boring.  Kinda “flat.”

So I converted it to black & white.

B&W Version #1

Better, but still kinda boring.  Kinda “flat.”

So I went into Photoshop to the filter gallery.

I added a frosted glass filter to the image.

Blue Morpho Butterfly

Just ONCE I wish I could get these huge beautiful butterflies to let their wings down so I could take a photo but nooooooooooo.  The inside of their wings is the most beautiful irridescent blue you could ever imagine – it really is breathtaking to see them fly.  Each year at the Butterfly Festival  I give it another try but, again this year, they eluded me.  Oh well, there’s always next year…

Great Spangled Fritillary

The butterfly festival was a blast.  It was hot and sweaty and had way too many people there but I still couldn’t help but love it.  Here’s one of the first images from today’s fun.
