Three Years
March 16, 2008 — HeyJulesTomorrow will mark the third anniversary of sharing my life with a pug named Grace. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, I bought her first leash and collar in a brilliant bright green.
She has certainly been a challenge at times - but so very worth it. I really can’t imagine my life without her flat nose getting into everything that smells like food. People tell me that pug stands for “part pig/part slug.” I’d have to agree. What they don’t tell you is how much you will grow to love the little creature that sheds on all your furniture and who puts absolutely everything she can find on the floor into her mouth.
Despite her flaws, she has taught me much about life, a few lessons about God, and a ton about photography (hey, you try to properly expose that black face with that light tan colored body!)
She’s my girl and I love her. Happy St. Paddy’s Day / Anniversary, Miss Grace.

That’s one amazing shot! Your tags say “chocolate filter” (yummy…
- on your camera or in Photoshop? I’d like to experiment with the filters, but they’re so d*** expensive! So I only have a gradual grey, a couple of UV’s and one circular pl. And I need to find a good “manual” about using them!
Yeah. I hate clipping the dogs’ nails (and Griffon nails are black, which makes it even worse). Just the other day I was wondering why don’t they breed a dog without nails
Oh, and Gracie in all her sweetness… Once I took MIL’s dog to my vet and he asked me if the dog is planning to climb a tree. She was in serious need of a “pawcure”

Eija, that chocolate filter is one that I purchased from EZ Actions Photoblast that adds a “chocolate” effect in PS. It’s close to being black & white but is more of a duotone I guess. It converts everything that would be black to a very dark chocolate color. Isn’t it beautiful?

How in the world did I miss this “formal” portrait of Grace? You’re a master at animal photography, Julie. I think you should consider taking some work on the side…place a small ad for animal photography and test the response. You could use this photo in a flyer, too. I love the subtle sepia tone of this. It’s perfect!
