Winter’s Chill
January 20, 2008 — HeyJulesIt’s been nasty cold here in the Midwest for the past couple of days. I try to look at the good side of that (not that there really IS a good side) and remember that the cold temps bring with it a better variety of birds to photograph at the feeders and wonderful ice patterns that form on the outside windows. (Frankly, if it wasn’t for things like this, I’d go insane because it is bitter cold here and I hate being cramped up indoors!)

You are absolutely right on all accounts. Nasty cold (-16˚ this morning) and inside feels like jail, but the snow and ice are pretty. I would miss not having 4 seasons, but it could hover around 30˚ and I’d be happy.
Nice ice, nice blue.

Brrr! Beautiful frosty patterns and details.
It’s just been around freezing here in the Northeast - not so impressively cold as the Midwest.

You’re getting some great macro shots. The ice is lovely.
But I swear that squirrel is sticking its tongue out at you!

Barbara, I’m with you. I’m all for having all four seasons but must it go below zero and above 100??? Really now…c’mon…
Tom, It’s LESS cold in the northeast? Wow…we are getting taken for a ride around here!
Pixelpi, I think he’s sticking his tongue out at me, too. Probably saying something like “I’m outside and you’re not. Nananananana…”
